A new stained glass window for St Andrew's
The theme is a celebration of the beauty of God's Creation,
The Sun, a traditional symbol of God, the source of life, suggesting God's power.
The elements surrounding the sun emphasise the movement of nature's volatile changing moods, but peace is symbolised by the decent of the dove on the left hand side, representing of the Holy Spirit.
The tree of life is another dominate symbol with many fruits which represent the many diverse joys and rewards in life.
A Pilgrim stands at the beginning of a path, about to start the journey through life.
All around is evidence of the beauty of the creation, there are mountains to climb in the distance, representing obstacles during the journey, there are many lively fish in the river, birds and sheep upon green pastures each one separated by selected coloured glasses.
The window will be made using the best quality mouth blown glasses, giving a sparkling
mosaic of colour.
The streaky glass will be detailed by the addition of hand painted lines to silhouette the various features such as birds and fish, but generally the glass and colour will not be compromised by obscuring pigment. The window will allow light to flow through the glass into the church.
