We welcome enquiries about baptisms.

Baptisms take place in one of the main services, or in special baptism services held at 12.15 (St Andrew's) or 12.30 (St Peter's).

You can click the link down the page to see the order of service we use.

Baptisms are free because they emphasise the giving of God for the sake of the person baptised.

Those who aren't old enough to make decisions for themselves regarding the direction of their lives have godparents (at least two), and these should be chosen because they will help nurture the faith of the child.

In the service, parents and godparents express their commitment to God and their child, the child is baptised at the font, godparents and parents are commissioned, and then the child is sent out with a lit candle symbolising that the light of Christ leads them on their journey, and that they are called to be lights in the world.

There is a group called Bethlehem Babes which meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month at 10.15 which has been developed for pre-school children and their Mums.
